My name is Rebecca, I am carrying out a work placement here at Yours Clothing, for university. I am a student from Birmingham who is lucky enough to live in Peterborough which is where Yours Clothing head office is situated! I will be here for a month with the marketing team. It is a very exciting time for the ever expanding, Yours Clothing and I am pleased to be a part of it.Over the course of the next few months brand new stores are opening across the country, I will be helping organise some of the openings! From sourcing carrier bags to Buck’s Fizz and chocolate!
Last Friday I was given the opportunity to attend the first store opening, which was at Bluewater shopping centre. Having never been here before I was amazed by the size and the variety of brands they offer, most importantly the size of the food hall!
It was an early start for me and Charlotte, the online marketing manager. She picked me up at half six to arrive at Bluewater for 8o’clock. Traffic hindered this a little arriving at 8:30, as we arrived at the store the team were busy working hard to get everything ready for the 10am opening! We got ourselves started on putting together the goodie bags to hand out to customers on their arrival. We met the team, all of which were really friendly, one of them helped us blow up balloons to give out to customers.
The team had a briefing on how the day would pan out, we then all moved to the front of the store where a large queue was forming, which created a sense of excitement for the opening. A pink ribbon was placed across the front of doors, the store manager cut the ribbon, pronouncing the store ‘now open’!! The store was particularly busy, customers enjoying the fresh, modern concept.
Myself and charlotte stood at the front of the store asking people to come in to check out the brand new store, offering them chocolates and goodie bags. Also handing out £5 vouchers for their next purchase in-store.
We did this for a couple of hours then as it was a little quieter, we made our way for lunch.
We then returned to the store where it had calmed down a little from the mad rush in the morning, it was still rather busy in store, we were asked to clear out some of the old graphics from the stock room to bring them back to head office to be reused.
I met a some of staff working at the Bluewater store, a couple of them had sash on saying ‘need style advice?’ these particular employees, let customers know what suits them and different outfit builds for this season.
As the day quietened down myself and Charlotte decided to leave, as we had a 2 and a half hour journey ahead of us. I have loved coming to see the Yours Clothing Bluewater store open. From the hectic planning and initial opening to the transition of customers loving the new store and concept, saying things such as,
“I have been buying Yours Clothing online, so excited it is finally here!”
This was lovely to hear!
Fingers crossed a new store is opening near you! Check out our website to drop a pin on the map of where you would like a new store to be!
